About

IMG_5433

When I was a kid, I snuck in many hours of Nancy Drew, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Age of Empires, and KotOR on a laptop meant for schoolwork. I grew up outside a small town in rural Michigan and found myself turning to video games as an outlet for stories and creativity.

These days I play games like No Mans Sky, Elden Ring, Horizon: Forbidden West, and everything Far Cry. I’ve graduated from my Nintendo Game Boy and my first laptop, which my dad saved from the trash. I’m still as hooked on games as I was in my younger years. But these days I’m also an educator who approaches games and their communities from a critical perspective.

This blog is one outlet for my gaming and teaching interests. If you’d like to gush about video games or discuss their educational value, stick around! Here you’ll find my comments and musings on many things related to video games and education. Sometimes those two areas intersect and other times they’ll stand on their own.

Welcome!
